The Hare stands on the Roman Portway where it was formerly crossed by a once important north-south route off the Ridgeway. The Hare is a one bar, low-ceilinged pub with an attractive covered colonnade on three sides. There is a spacious garden outside and a large car park. The pub was closed for nearly five years but was then purchased by Star Pubs (Heineken) who re-opened it after major repairs were made. Recently has undergone a further major refurbishment and has re-opened again under a new tenant but since has closed again.
